When The Sun Sets...
       ...A Story of Love, Lust and... Vampires?!

Chapter 18

            Gackt held Kami tight against him, his head buried in Kami’s shoulder. He was so relieved that Kami had returned home. He had been devastated when he thought he had lost him. But here Kami was, wearing his shirt. He had obviously been forgiven. He didn’t want to let Kami go, ever again. He wanted to stand there for eternity, never pulling away.

            “What did Közi tell you?” Gackt eventually asked.

            “Everything.” Kami replied. “About the curse, about Mana, about what you are.”

            “You know what I am?” Gackt asked amazed. “And you’re still here in my arms?”

            “I trust you.” Kami replied, meaning every word. Gackt moved his head from Kami’s shoulder and tried to kiss him. To his surprise Kami pulled away.

            “Kami…” he asked hurt in his voice.

            “I know where your lips have been.” Kami had explained. Gackt’s blood ran cold as he remembered the man he had killed. He felt a stab of guilt, and fear. Fear of himself. What he was capable off. “Go have a shower, brush your teeth, and wipe the scent of Mana away. Then I’ll be yours again.” Kami had kindly ordered. Gackt looked relieved. Kami didn’t know about the man. How could he have known?

            “Ok.” Gackt agreed heading towards the bathroom. Kami had already laid a set of clean clothes out for him. Gackt smiled, they were the clothes he knew Kami liked to see him in most.

            Gackt showered quickly and returned to Kami, dressed and clean. His hair still damp from the shower. Kami was sitting on the bed waiting for him.

            “There is a solution to this mess.” Kami had said smiling at Gackt. “If you make me like you.”

            “Kami, no!” Gackt cried horrified. “I couldn’t do that! You’re so innocent. I don’t want to take that away.”

            “It’s ok” Kami said reassuringly “I want to do this. Közi has explained everything to me, I know what I’m asking.”

            “Kami…” Gackt said helplessly. “Will you really do this for me?”

            “I’d do anything for you.” Kami answered. “Just like you have proven you’ll do anything for me.” Gackt shook his head sadly.

            “No, I can’t.” He said. “You’d have to give up so much, your family, your friends…”

            “But I’ll get to keep you and that’s what matters.” Kami answered. “We can be together forever.”

            “Forever is a long time.” Gackt replied. “Are you sure you want to be with me that long?”

            “No more arguing, I’ve already made up my mind.” Kami said pulling a knife from beneath the pillow. It was one of Gackt’s, taken from his collection.

            “No that’s not how it’s done.” Gackt said placing his hand over Kami’s. “OK I’ll do this. You can be my only Lord.”

            “Only?” Kami asked surprised.

            “I have never changed anyone before.” Gackt admitted. “Some Princes have multiple lovers, others get bored and replace the ones they had. But not me. I only want one Lord. You. If you get bored of me, I will carry on alone. I will never replace you Kami. If I change you, it will be like we are married. I will give you everything, I promise you. All I need if your love.” Kami smiled at Gackt happily. “There’s one other thing, Gackt added. For a vampire loyalty is everything. By Vampire rules you will have to be loyal to only me. You will have to obey me. Don’t worry I won’t ask of you much. Family is everything, and you will be my family.”

            “No change then.” Kami had said smiling happily. Gackt smiled too and went to sit next to Kami on the bed.

            “First you need to drink my blood. Don’t worry, you’ll like it.” Gackt said, practical now.

            “Wait.” Kami requested “I want to do one more thing as a human.” He leant down and started to kiss Gackt on the lips. “I want to make love to you.” Kami got out between kisses. Gackt felt Kami’s tongue pushing against his lips and he opened his mouth allowing Kami access. Kami was leading tonight. Gackt had never felt him so passionate. For the first time in ages he was having sex for no reason other than love. Mana was now nothing but a distant bad memory. Kami was his world. Kami moved inside him and Gackt moaned in delight.

            “I love you.” Gackt breathlessly said as Kami continued to move against him. Eventually Kami had finished. Too soon. It would have always been too soon.

            “I’m ready now.” Kami whispered. Looking with loving eyes at Gackt. Gackt nodded and found a wooden knife. An old family heirloom from the days vampires had fought war among themselves.

            “He sat down on the bed leaning against the pillows. Kami lay alongside him. There naked bodies touching. Gackt slit his wrist, his body unable to heel the wooden cut. He moved his arm towards Kami’s mouth. Kami scared but determined started to drink Gackt’s blood. It tasted sweet and nice. Not like human blood at all. Gackt’s other arm wrapped around him. He drank slowly enjoying every minute. The cut hadn’t been deep and eventually had stopped bleeding, Kami’s mouth still on Gackt’s wrist. He pulled away. He felt strong and powerful. The vampire blood already beginning to change his cells. He looked at Gackt who was lying on the bed, pale from blood loss.

            “Gackt?” he asked worried.

            “Now I need your blood.” Gackt explained. “If you want me to live that is.” Kami had nodded. Off course he wanted Gackt to live.

            Gackt’s tongue licked against his neck over and over. “I don’t want to hurt you.” Gackt had whispered. Kami didn’t even feel Gackt’s fangs dig in. He just felt Gackt’s lips against his neck. The two of them lay there, naked, in the embrace. Gackt’s lips gently touching Kami’s neck as he drank. He pulled away when he had enough.

            “You’re going to sleep now the change begins.” Gackt had said to Kami who nodded sleepy. “While asleep you will only listen to my voice. I can make you do anything but I won’t. You can trust me on that. You will awake to my kiss, just like Snow White.” Kami nodded as his eyelids closed. His last view as a human was off Gackt’s caring and loving face.

            “Sit up.” Gackt had commanded when he was sure Kami was asleep. Kami’s body obeying Gackt’s voice. Kami was so beautiful, sleeping there looking like an angel. Gackt dressed Kami’s sleeping body in white. He looked even more angelic now. Sitting behind him Gackt started to brush Kami’s hair that had become messed up. After awhile Gackt had been happy with Kami’s appearance and left him lying in the bed sleeping. He watched Kami sleep for several hours. Checking frequently that Kami was still alive. His head pressed against Kami’s chest so he could hear his heartbeat. Towards the end of the change Gackt had gone out and hypnotised a neighbour. Kami would be starving when he woke up. He’d make sure Kami didn’t drink too much.

            “It’s time.” Gackt had told his sleeping lover. “Wake up my beautiful Snow White.” He had leant down and kissed Kami, Kami’s eyes fluttering open. His first view as a vampire was of Gackt’s smiling face.

            Mana waited patiently for Gackt to come. He had called him. He was bored and felt like he’d play with his favourite toy. Gackt arrived. A look of utter depression on his face.

            “Kiss me.” Mana ordered with a smile. Gackt looked up and smiled back.

            “No.” he said. Just the one word. Mana looked shocked.

            “What do you mean ‘no’?” he asked dangerously.

            “I mean no.” Gackt replied. “What are you, an idiot?” Mana glared and grabbed a knife. He ripped it deep across his chest, angry at Gackt’s defiance.

            “Don’t you say no to me.” He had snarled. Gackt’s face remained smiling.

            “Or what?” Kami asked entering the room unhurt. “You can’t hurt me anymore and so you can’t hurt Gackt.” Kami smirked at Mana and Mana snarled. He grabbed his knife and lunged at Kami. Kami blocked it easily. His reflexes twice as fast as Mana’s. The knife went flying across the floor.

            “I said you can’t hurt me.” Kami had smiled, allowing his fangs to grow. Mana’s face went pale as he realised what had happened.

            “We’ve won. I want to kill you, but Kami talked me out of it. He says you’re not worth the effort.” Gackt turned away and he and Kami left the room.

            Mana was mad. How could he have lost? Gackt was his toy! But his toy had fought back and won. He started to throw his things against the wall. Gackt had beaten him and he was mad. Eventually Közi had returned home and heard the sounds from Mana’s room.

            “Mana stop throwing your things about.” Közi said poking his head into Mana’s room. There was no sympathy in his voice. He smiled as he left the room, Gackt had won and he was glad. He lied down on his own bed and turned on the TV. Eventually Mana joined him. Közi just ignored him. Mana didn’t deserve comfort after what he had done. He felt Mana’s weight on the bed followed by Mana’s head against his chest. Mana was lying next to him.

            “Közi are you still mad at me?” Mana asked in a small voice.

            “Yes.” Was Közi’s short and honest reply.

            “Will you ever forgive me?” Mana asked pitifully.

            “I don’t know.” Közi said returning his attention back to the TV. Mana remained laying there his head against Közi. Közi let him, he still loved Mana and knew that eventually he would forgive his old lover, but it would take awhile. He felt Mana’s tears on his chest. They had soaked through his shirt. He offered Mana no comfort and carried on watching TV. Mana would have to earn his forgiveness.
