When the Sun Sets...
...A Story of Love, Lust and... Vampires?!
Chapter 9
“See Ya!” Yu~ki called as he walked out of the recording studio. He had been jealous that Kami and Gackt had been allowed to leave almost two hours earlier. That was until he learnt that he didn’t have to come back until
Közi, who was by far the braver man, headed home. He’d have to deal with Mana sooner or later and he’d much rather it be sooner. No point worrying about it. He opened his door with a little trepidation. He wasn’t sure what was going to meet him.
“Mana?” he called into the house. Mana appeared at the top of the stairs. He had obviously gotten up at some point because he had made a lot off effort in his appearance. He was wearing a dress. Mana always wore women’s clothes when Közi was mad at him or he wanted something. The feminine appearance always made Közi be that little more gentle towards him.
“I’m sorry.” Mana said with a pout. “I shouldn’t have tried to hypnotise Gackt.” He added the last part with a shy look towards the floor. He wasn’t sorry at all, but he knew playing the innocent ‘I’m sorry don’t hurt me’ act would always work on Közi.
“How’s your back?” Közi asked who had already decided to forgive Mana. A vampire’s first loyalty was too his family. Mana was family and Gackt wasn’t. It didn’t matter what Mana did to Gackt at the end of the day Közi would always take Mana’s side even if he himself didn’t agree with Mana’s actions.
“It hurts a little but the bruise has gone.” Mana said noticing that Közi wasn’t mad at him anymore.”
“I talked to Gackt.” Közi explained to Mana. “He says if you apologise he’ll forget anything happened.”
“Why should I apologise!” exclaimed Mana “He’s the one who threw me against a wall. I’d properly would be dead or paralysed if I was human!”
“Mana…” Közi warned with a look. “You will apologise to Gackt. I don’t care if you mean it but you will do it. And you will do it in such a way that Gackt believes it.”
“Fine. But I won’t mean it.” Mana sulked acting like a little spoilt child. Közi felt a sense of relieve. That had gone a lot better than expected!
Yu~ki had given up on the beach idea. Living in
“What took you so long?” Közi asked Yu~ki curiously.
“I went to annoy a friend.” Was Yu~ki’s answer as he headed towards the fridge. He returned with a packet of ham which he was eating on it’s own straight out of the packet. Közi didn’t even look surprised. Yu~ki often ate meat like this.
“You could off used a plate.” Közi complained.
“I could have eaten you!” Yu~ki responded.
“True. You tried that once remember.” Was Közi’s mocking reply.
It was fifteen years ago that Yu~ki had first met Közi. It was a cold dark night and Közi had been out hunting for prey. Little did he know he would end up being the prey.
The small wolf cub sniffed the air. Food! It smelt weird but defiantly meat. He was so hungry. He had no idea what had happened to his parents. They had just disappeared. Yu~ki was afraid they were dead. A lot of werewolves had died recently, there was a gang off hunters after them. He had waited patiently at home for there return but hunger had eventually lead him outside. He was so hungry. He ran towards the smell of meat his small teeth bit down upon the mans leg. The blood tasted weird. Yelping in pain the man picked Yu~ki up by the scruff of his neck. He yelped. It hurt! ‘Let me go’ he mentally thought at the man. Too young to realise that he should be trying to keep his existence a secret.
“A werewolf!” the man cried in shock. “Don’t you know that vampires are off limits?”
‘No.’ Yu~ki responded. He honestly had no idea.
“Well you are young.” The man admitted. “What’s your name?”
‘I’m not supposed to talk to strangers.’ Yu~ki responded.
“I bet you’re not supposed to bite them either. Werewolves don’t hunt much anymore. Not since humans started to hunt them centuries ago.” It was true, modern day werewolves just ate meat from the shops like any human. It was the easiest way to stay hidden. Unlike what the media showed, werewolves were just a type of shapeshifer. They could change there form to wolf or human whenever they felt like it. They could also pick any form in between. “I’m Közi.” Közi said looking at the young wolf. “See I’m not a stranger anymore.”
‘I’m Yu~ki.’ Yu~ki happily announced following Közi’s logic. ‘I’m sorry for biting you.’ He added.
Közi had taken Yu~ki home and fed him. Determining that Yu~ki was now an orphan Yu~ki had been raised in his house, as his and Mana’s son. As Yu~ki grew older he became more of a friend to both of them. He was grateful for everything Közi had done for him. However sometimes he felt so left out. He longed to spend time with other wolves. To run in the forests as a pack. To howl at the moon. He often went alone but that wasn’t the same. Being the only one of your species was hard sometimes. Yu~ki wandered over to the window. ‘I wonder if there are other wolves out there?’ he thought staring at the night sky…
Ok this chapter is pretty short. Sorry about that. I really should add more to Yu~ki’s flashback but I can’t be bothered. I was going to add a bit more but realised it would fit in better later in the story. Oh well nothing wrong with having a short chapter!
