Chapter 9
In The Light Of The Moon
Chapter 9
Mana smiled as he lay beside Közi. It was morning but Közi was still asleep. Obviously still tired. Well his body had a lot of healing to do. Mana let him sleep. He loved Közi. He always had. Közi would always have a special place in his heart. That’s why he looked after him now. But Keisuke had unknowingly done him a huge favour. It was better than anything Mana could have planed himself. Mana placed his hand on Közi forehead. It was slightly warmer than normal but nothing to worry about. Közi awoke to Mana’s touch.
“Mana.” Közi said, trying to sit up but quickly giving up. It still hurt too much.
“It’s ok, I’ll look after you.” Mana said kindly. Közi nodded. He trusted Mana. At least when his health and safety was concerned. “You said something about Keisuke.”
“Yeah. Keisuke.” Közi agreed. He had no need to say anymore. Mana could figure out for himself what had happened.
“Keisuke is evil.” Mana replied faking annoyance. Part of him was generally annoyed with Keisuke, however the larger selfish half was thanking him for this chance.
“Yeah.” Közi agreed.
“It properly runs in the family.” Mana replied with a perfectly straight face. He couldn’t let slip now.
“I don’t know… Gackt has always been kind.” Közi replied confused. But what Mana had said was bringing back his earlier paranoid fears. Keisuke had been a perfect actor in the beginning. It was quite easy to believe that Gackt was just as fake. He just didn’t want to. He liked Gackt.
“He cheated on Kami.” Mana reminded him.
“Mana, that’s hardly the same!” Közi snapped, annoyed. How could Mana compare the two?
“No listen. I know Gackt has told you I was threatening Kami, and that was true at first. But he enjoyed it.” Mana lied. “He wanted to sleep with me. The Kami thing was just an excuse. He was so keen.”
“That’s not what I heard.” Közi replied, deep in thought. If Mana was telling the truth it changed everything.
“He was begging for it.” Mana added. “Sometimes he’d turn up for sex just because he was in the mood. He told me Kami was great, but it’s always good to have a change of pace.” Közi studied Mana’s face for a hint that he was lying. There was none. But it didn’t feel right.
“Gackt loved Kami…” Közi began.
“Yes he does.” Mana agreed. “I never said he didn’t. He just likes a bit on the side. He’s properly got someone new by now.”
“Well he does say he loves sex…” Közi began utterly confused. He just didn’t know who to believe.
“I’ll go find you something to eat.” Mana offered and Közi nodded. He was hungry and needed to think.
Mana smiled as he left the house. Közi was doubting Gackt. It was only a matter of time now.
Gackt was out drinking with Keisuke. Kami had already left to go to Bob’s bachelor party. Or ‘Man party’ as he put it.
“And then she…” Keisuke began in the middle of a very graphic description of the sex he’d had the night before. Gackt had tuned his brother out. He didn’t want to here this. Luckily for Gackt, Keisuke was interrupted by the bartended.
“That woman over there bought you this drink.” The bartender announced to Keisuke pointing towards the bar. Keisuke glanced over.
“That’s a man.” Keisuke replied seeing Mana. Gackt turned around in shock. Why was Mana here? Why was he buying Keisuke a drink? “But whatever I like anything with a postcode.” Gackt watched as his brother went over to talk to Mana and shrugged. Whatever, his brother could do what he wanted with Mana. It’s not like he’d actually be a sweet and loyal boyfriend. He’d properly just sleep with him and walk out. Ordinarily Gackt kept his brother away from his friends. Keisuke just broke there hearts, but Mana wasn’t his friend. He turned back to see a woman smiling at him. He smiled back. Well it was better than sitting alone, he thought as he went over to flirt with her. Maybe he’d buy her a drink if she was nice. It wouldn’t go anywhere. He loved Kami. He was just bored.
“Hi.” Keisuke said with a flirtatious smile. Mana was hot. Sure he looked like a woman but Keisuke liked both. “I don’t normally look at you quarter breeds, already damaged goods, but you’re pretty.”
“Oh, that was just to say thank you.” Mana laughed.
“For what?” Keisuke asked puzzled.
“Oh you know. For something” Mana cryptically replied with a smile.
“Not going to tell me?” Keisuke asked.
“No.” Mana laughed. His attention on Gackt. Gackt had his hand on the women’s leg as he was telling some joke. Gackt was a helpless flirt.
“Well that’s ok.” Keisuke laughed. “If there was only a way to thank, your thank you.” He finished with a flirtatious smile.
“Well you are hot.” Mana agreed. Noticing for the first time. He actually had no interest in Keisuke but Keisuke had already proven useful to him once. It would be good to have him on his side. “But you hurt Közi.”
“He wouldn’t kiss me back.” Keisuke pouted. “He’s supposed to be me mine. I had to teach him a little lesson.”
“I understand.” Mana agreed. He was actually mad at Keisuke but that wouldn’t stop him. “Still Közi can’t know we’re even talking. He doesn’t see it our way.” Keisuke smiled. Mana thought just like him.
“Yes, I still haven’t given up on him. You can fill the gap until he’s mine again.” Keisuke offered. “I’m a great fuck.”
“Oh I bet you are.” Mana flirtatiously agreed. Gackt was leaving the bar with the woman now. “Hey you’re brothers leaving the bar with that woman.”
“Yeah. She hot, looks like she’ll be keen. Experienced too.” Keisuke agreed. He had no concept of loyalty and so it was an alien idea to him that Gackt might actually be loyal to Kami. Mana smiled. He was recording the conversation.
“Does he often cheat?” Mana asked.
“I don’t know.” Keisuke admitted. “But a man with our DNA? Off course he’s getting fucked. Properly by anyone with a pretty face who crosses his path. I know I am. Talking about pretty faces.” Keisuke leant towards Mana and Mana let him kiss him. Közi didn’t have to hear the whole conversation. Just the part where even Gackt’s brother doubted his loyalty to Kami. Keisuke deserved the reward.
Gackt’s fangs buried into the woman’s neck. She thought he was kissing her. She couldn’t feel his fangs at all. He drank her blood while stroking her hair. She was a nice girl. He preferred to drink from pretty pray.
“I think you should go home” Gackt whispered in a hypnotic voice.
“Yeah” agreed the girl as she turned around and heading home. Her brain hadn’t quite worked out why she should be going home that minute. She just was.
Kami arrived at Bob’s bachelor party slightly worried. He didn’t know what to expect from his rather unusual friend.
“Kami me man!” Bob cried happily, a beer in his hand. “Have a drink!” Bob thrust a beer from a nearby table into Kami’s hand. Kami shrugged and drank some.
“Hi Bob.” Kami said with a grin. He had missed hanging out with his friend.
“This me cuzcuz, Spanish American Pedro!” Bob said draping an arm around a man who had blond hair. Kami translated “cuzcuz” as “cousin” he was right.
“Hi Pedro” Kami said, not knowing what to expect.
“I’m Bob’s cousin.” Pedro explained.
“Me say that!” Bob cried. “My cuzcuz have air.” Bob said with a laugh as he wandered of.
“Sorry, I don’t really understand my cousin.” Pedro admitted.
“I’ll teach you.” Kami smiled. “for a start ‘cuzcuz’ is cousin.”
“And ‘have air’?” Pedro asked.
“Yeah, he was calling you stupid.” Kami explained.
“Like my head is full of air?” Pedro asked.
“Exactly.” Kami said. Pedro looked annoyed.
“What about ‘have tah?’” Pedro asked. “He said that about me earlier.”
“Oh that means you can run fast. Kami explained. I think it comes from ‘cheetah.’” Pedro nodded. Kami spent most of the party translating Bob’s language for Pedro. It was OK, he didn’t mind. Pedro seemed a generally nice guy and was fun to hang out with. Also considerably normal considering who he was related too.
“Közi I have proof!” Mana called as he entered the house.
“Proof of what?” Yu~ki asked. He’d arrived home to find Közi asleep in Mana’s bed. Közi had explained to him what had happened. It was embarrassing but he felt Yu~ki needed to know what Keisuke was capable off.
“Proof!” Mana happily announced. “Who’s that?” he asked noticing that Yu~ki had a friend over.
“This is my friend Klaha.” Yu~ki explained. “Klaha this is Mana.” He added. Klaha had come over to spend sometime with Yu~ki. Also in hope that he might get a chance to see if Keisuke was the prince or not. Közi appeared at the top of the stairs. He was moving slow and was obviously in pain. Still he managed to stumble down the stairs on his own. Clutching hard to the banister. He was dressed in lose comfortable clothes. He was obviously feeling a little better.
“That we can’t trust Gackt.” Mana announced. Közi sat on the bottom step as the others assembled in the hall. “See even his brother thinks he’s a cheat.” He hit play and the four of them listened to Keisuke’s voice.
“That isn’t proof.” Klaha announced. And Yu~ki nodded his agreement.
“He’s right.” Közi agreed. Still having no idea who Klaha was. “It’s just Keisuke. His word can’t be counted for anything.” ‘Still it does add to my suspicions.’ He added silently.
“I saw him leave the bar with a woman.” Mana added.
“Dinner, knowing you vampires.” Klaha spat. He didn’t like vampires very much, he didn’t trust them.
“Gackt is not cheating on Kami.” Yu~ki agreed. Közi envied Yu~ki’s certainty. He wished he could be so sure.
“Well we’ve never seen him cheat.” Klaha added without thinking.
“What do you mean ‘we’?” Közi asked suspicious.
“My friends and I have kind of been following you.” Klaha admitted, not having any choice. “Only for a few days…” he quickly added seeing the looks of anger on Közi’s and Mana’s faces. “Maybe I should leave…”
“I think you should.” Közi announced angry. Klaha nodded and turned to leave. He could understand Közi’s anger.
“Klaha wait.” Yu~ki ordered. “Klaha had to follow you. He needed to know he could trust me.” Yu~ki tried to explain.
“Why?” Közi spat.
“He was scared you were Hunters.” Yu~ki said and Klaha nodded his agreement.
“Hunters?” Mana asked. He knew what they were, he was just surprised.
“Yeah. Vampires who kill Shape Shifters. Or drink there blood for the extra power…” Klaha began to explain.
“I know what they are.” Mana interrupted. “We’re not them.”
“Well I know that now.” Klaha admitted.
“I suppose it is suspicious having a wolf live with 2 vampires.” Közi agreed forgiving Klaha.
“I’m looking for a Prince.” Klaha announced as he filled Közi in. Yu~ki had told him that Közi might be able to help him. Klaha had decided to take Yu~ki’s word, he would trust Közi. After all he had taken care of Yu~ki. Mana scowled annoyed and wandered away as the three men talked in the hall. He needed more to turn his band mates against Gackt. He was sick of seeing Gackt’s face every day. Gackt touching Kami, kissing Kami, laughing with Kami. If only he could split them up. Kick Gackt out of Malice Mizer. Leave Gackt depressed and alone. Then Gackt would be sorry. Mana smirked. Well Közi had doubts now. It was a start.
“Anything with a postcode” is a quote of John Barrowman describing his character, Captain Jack’s taste in partners. (Men, Women, Aliens, all the same for Jack XD).
Well i wasn't planning on Közi helping Klaha. But it was nice how the new Malice were together for a little bit. Also There was no plans for Mana and Keisuke to hook up. Work together yes... but then i realised Keisuke wasn't going to betray Gackt. I'd already written ages ago that Keisuke "looked up to and respected" Gackt.
However might as well have the two evil characters together just because XD.
